At sea: Mariner’s lunch and formal night.
Corfu: The port provided a shuttle from the ship to the Port building, then we caught the local bus into the city centre, 5 euro each for an all-day ticket. Much better value than the ships 16 euro return per person!
Once in the City centre we walk around the cobbled streets and alley ways soaking up the ambience of this lovely city. The narrow shop fronts, cafes, souvenir stores all inviting us to ‘come inside’. Our walk took us to the Old Port, through the Spianada Gardens and Spianada Square with stunning views across the coastline and swimming beach.
The apartments butting the square, whose cobbled streets lead past the Liston. Along more cobbled alleyways past the Catholic Cathedral, Town Hall, shops and the Zapavoou Espresso and Wine Bar where we stopped and sat for a while. Connie and I ordered Frappe ice coffee with ice cream, not really sure what to expect, the drink was cold and refreshing which was what we were hoping for.
Feeling re-energised we continued our walk through the City Markets then on to the New Fort and back to bus stop for our return journey to the ship.
