21st – 22nd January: Geelong to Richmond

Left Geelong around 9.10am using the GPS to find our way to Ashley Gardens Holiday Village in Braybrook. The park is very nice at $42.00 per night.  The depot to return the van is just down the road which will make life easier in the morning.  We went browsing in the shopping centre next door, Derick has bought himself a mini computer for when we are travelling, especially overseas.  Expensive shopping trip :), but gave Derick a toy to play with for the rest of the day.  We will relax for the remainder of our last day in the van.

20th January: Peterborough to Geelong

Today has been the longest driving day; all the ocean parks are full, long weekend and school holidays.  We have travelled from Peterborough through Port Campbell where we stocked up on food.  Then we followed the Great Ocean Road around to Lorne.  The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and well worth the effort.

The Otway’s are beautiful in another way; winding roads, shady canopies of very tall trees, deep valleys, loads of koalas, echidnas and kangaroos all in their native habitat – just wonderful.

From Lorne we turned inland (to try and find a camp site) finished up in Geelong at 5.30pm.  Set up camp, enjoyed some wines then chicken and salad for tea.  We have booked Ashley Garden for tomorrow night, very close to where we return the van.

18th January: Port MacDonnell to Mt Clay State Forest

We left Port MacDonnell around 9.30am travelling to Nelson, just inside the Victorian border, where we stopped to mail some postcards to Mum and June. Then we travelled to Bridgewater Point, breathtaking scenery along the coast; beautiful spot, very windy and cold.  Next town was Portland where we shopped for food for the next 2 days.  Found a shady spot near the yacht club for lunch, sat and enjoyed the view.

Camping tonight at Sawpit Campground in the Mt Clay State Forest, a bit isolated but very much like Nanga Mill at Dwellingup.

16th January: Murray Bridge to Beachport

We had to be at Dutton VW for 8.30am this morning to hopefully have the aircon fixed?  There was a bit of a delay but with a regas we were on our way again about 11am.

We travelled through Tailem Bend, Meningie, and Salt Creek, where we stopped for lunch.  Then on to Kingston, Robe and the Beachport were we stopped for the night in a caravan park on the beach, just beautiful.

The shower leaks and the sump guard is being supported by a piece of twine!!??
